IPS has strengthened our senior management team and capability in asset management with the appointment of highly experienced industry leader Michael Mitchell.
We are delighted to welcome Michael Mitchell to IPS in the newly created role of General Manager – Asset Management, further strengthening the firm’s leadership capability at a critical time for Australia’s infrastructure sector.
Michael joins IPS with more than 20 years’ experience across the water and infrastructure sectors, where he has built a strong reputation for hands-on leadership, technical excellence and an unwavering commitment to safety and service. He was most recently General Manager, Asset Services at Seqwater.
Beginning his career on the tools before completing a Bachelor of Engineering, Michael progressed through a wide range of operational, technical and senior leadership roles. This pathway has shaped a practical, grounded perspective informed by real-world delivery and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
IPS Managing Director Sascha Kurz said she was delighted to welcome Michael to IPS and excited about the leadership, energy and depth of experience he brings to this important capability.

Michael brings deep experience across complex, long-lived assets, including water and critical infrastructure, with responsibility for portfolios exceeding $11 billion. His focus on safety, resilience and performance has helped ensure essential assets remain reliable, cost-effective and fit for purpose over their full lifecycle.
During his time at Seqwater, Michael also played a key role in shaping the organisation’s approach to electrical safety, delivering and supporting multiple programs of work that improved standards across the business.
Sascha said Michael’s appointment further strengthens IPS’s senior leadership depth and positions the firm to support clients facing increasingly complex asset management challenges.
