The next phase of QRCUF delivery has begun – a key project supporting Australia’s rare earth minerals industry in Townsville.
IPS is taking a leading role in the next phase of the Queensland Resources Common User Facility (QRCUF) construction – a project designed to bolster Australia’s rare earth minerals sector and support processing operations in Townsville.
Located at Cleveland Bay Industrial Park, this state-of-the-art facility will accelerate Queensland’s critical minerals industry, creating jobs and driving economic growth as part of the state’s transition to clean energy.
IPS is proud to be the State Government’s representative for the project and working alongside Managing Contractor Sedgman and other key advisors to ensure the project’s success. The IPS team includes three Principal Specialists – Managing Director Sascha Kurz, Senior Project Manager John Pelagio and Project Manager Matt Smith. The IPS team serves as the Principal’s Representative on the project providing critical contract and commercial administration, technical coordination and construction management services.
“This facility will be a game-changer for Queensland’s critical minerals sector,” Sascha said.
“We’re excited to play an important role in developing the infrastructure that will position the state as a leader in sustainable mineral processing.”
As a key part of the $315 million Queensland Critical Minerals Strategy and the $62 billion Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, QRCUF will focus on processing vanadium and other rare earth minerals. These materials are essential to advancing renewable energy technologies, including batteries for large-scale energy storage and electric vehicles.
With the new delivery phase underway, the IPS team is excited to be working on a project that will help shape Queensland’s position as a leader in the global energy transition.
“This project will be transformative, building Queensland’s future in critical mineral production,” Sascha said.
“We’re proud to be contributing our expertise to a facility that’s going to create long-term benefits for the industry, the economy and future generations.”
