With a background in civil engineering, consultancy and a passion for AI, Archy joins IPS to drive innovation across a range of exciting projects.
At IPS, we’re always on the lookout for talented professionals who bring fresh perspectives and expertise to our team, so we’re delighted to introduce Archy Kahondo as our newest Project Manager. With a strong background in civil engineering, consultancy and a passion for AI and automation, Archy is set to make a big impact.
Archy was born in Zimbabwe before moving to New Zealand as a child. Eventually, his family moved to Australia, settling in Gladstone, Queensland, where he completed his schooling. He later attended QUT in Brisbane to pursue a career in civil engineering.
Since 2015, Archy has worked in the construction industry. “I started on the contractor side before transitioning into consultancy about two and a half years ago,” he said.
This shift gave him a broader perspective on project efficiencies, innovation, and strategy.
“I’ve always been drawn to problem-solving and finding ways to work smarter, not harder. Consultancy allows me to look at the bigger picture and optimise workflows in project management.”
His qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (majoring in Construction Management) and an MBA in Management.
After hearing about IPS’ strong team culture and leadership, Archy knew it was the right fit for the next chapter of his career journey. The opportunity to work across multiple projects, and contribute to a company that values family, flexibility and innovation made his decision an easy one.
“I’d heard great things about IPS, especially about its people and leadership. When I met Sascha and learned about her vision, I knew I wanted to be part of it. The team is great, everyone gets along really well and there’s a good focus on work-life balance and wellbeing, which was important to me.”
Blending AI and automation with project management
Archy is also passionate about AI and automation and how technology can drive better project outcomes. Outside of his role at IPS, he also runs a boutique consultancy that helps businesses improve efficiency through smart automation strategies.
“AI is changing the way we work, and construction is no exception,” he says. “Sascha already has a vision for an AI strategy for the company, and I’m excited to assist in rolling this out and helping bring it to life. There’s so much opportunity to streamline processes and improve our project efficiency through AI.”
A standout moment in Archy’s career was being named the inaugural recipient of the Future Leader Scholarship at his previous company, recognising him as a rising star and an emerging talent in the industry.
“One piece of advice I live by is: ‘Say yes to opportunities, get involved and always be open to learning.’ Keeping an open mind and staying curious has led me to where I am today, including discovering my passion for AI, which I’m eager to integrate into my work at IPS.”
Outside of work, Archy loves traveling and spending time with his family – taking caravan trips with his wife and two children, often exploring scenic new spots in Queensland and Northern NSW.
“We try to get away at least once a month as there’s nothing better than hitting the road, unwinding and discovering new places…and just enjoying family time. The dream is to one day take a full trip around Australia.”
Welcome to the team, Archy!
