IPS is honoured to sponsor the QMCA Construction Professional of the Year award in memory of James Sheldon, a beloved colleague and skilled engineer.
IPS is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA) for the prestigious Construction Professional of the Year award. This sponsorship holds special significance as it is dedicated to the memory of James Sheldon, a beloved colleague and friend, and highly skilled engineer who was an integral part of IPS.
James Sheldon was an exceptional Senior Project Engineer whose passion for engineering excellence and collaborative spirit left a lasting impact on our team, and the broader industry. His expertise in water and wastewater treatment projects, including key contributions to the Kawana STP K150 Upgrade and the Chinchilla Potable WTP project, showcased his dedication to delivering infrastructure that continues to benefit communities for years to come.
Beyond his professional achievements, James was known for his warmth, integrity and unwavering enthusiasm for innovation.
Tragically, James passed away in 2020 in a hiking accident. An adventurous spirit at heart, he was an avid outdoorsman, mountaineer and orienteer, deeply connected to the natural landscapes of South East Queensland. His drive to explore, push boundaries and embrace the path less travelled was evident both in his professional and personal life.
IPS Managing Director Sascha Kurz said: “We believe that honouring James’ legacy through this award is a fitting tribute to his contributions to the construction industry.”
“The James Sheldon Construction Professional of the Year Award celebrates individuals who embody the same values James exemplified – technical excellence, leadership and an unwavering commitment to their craft.
“It’s our hope that this award will continue to inspire and recognise outstanding professionals who are shaping the future of construction. We are privileged to support this important industry event and to ensure that James’ legacy endures through the recognition of excellence in the field he was so passionate about.”
The QMCA awards will take place on Friday 21st March 2025, bringing together industry leaders to celebrate the achievements of outstanding professionals. IPS looks forward to honouring James’ memory and congratulating the deserving recipient of the award that bears his name.
