Game-changing mobile soil washing technology gets the thumbs up from Infrastructure Project Solutions.
When it comes to sustainability, IPS is always one step ahead.
So when we heard about Brisbane startup RE3 we were keen to get on board.
Led by former engineer Lincoln Heitman, the team has developed game-changing mobile soil washing technology that changes the outcome for contaminated earth.
IPS is delighted to be commissioning the machinery involved in this Australian first.
IPS Founder and Director Sascha Kurz said the technology involved was state-of-the-art.
“This collaboration represents a significant leap forward in sustainable waste management and reinforces our dedication to supporting innovative solutions that benefit both industry and the environment,” she said.
Every year, between three and five million tonnes of soil is currently dumped in landfill.
RE3 was established around two years ago with a clear mission: to rethink and transform how the construction industry handles waste.
Unlike traditional approaches that often result in a significant portion of waste being sent to landfills, Founder and Managing Director Lincoln and his team are focused on extracting maximum value from construction by-products.
Their unique approach centres on mobile wet processing plants designed to wash and separate contaminated soil, turning what was once considered waste into recoverable resources.
While the technology is gaining traction across Europe, Lincoln detected a gap in the market for mobile soil washing in Australia and set about changing that.
“We are the only people in Australia with this mobile technology,” he said.
“The machines are around 600sq metres, modular and portable, which is what we need them to be in this country.
“Putting resources in landfill that aren’t recoverable doesn’t make any sense to me, but once the soil has been washed it can go anywhere – it changes the outcome for contaminated soil, reducing the volume of waste that ends up in landfills.”
Before founding RE3, Lincoln built a solid foundation in engineering and construction management. His career included managing national portfolios, where he recognised existing waste processing methods were inadequate for modern needs. He decided to leverage his expertise to address this issue head-on.
His commitment to the cause is not only about business success but also about setting an example for future generations.
He added: “I’m proud of what we are achieving. I want my kids to know that Dad is doing the right thing and making a difference in the world.”
RE3 supports projects across Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales, covering transport infrastructure, utilities, defence, commercial, industrial and residential.
